Fates by dark777fairy Fates by dark777fairy
...something a bit different... experimenting with a textured surface and a more stylised, semi-abstract image:)

I spent last weekend in Madrid, looking around The Prado, including a Goya exhibition, and Thyssen galleries. Also saw a Mucha exhibition whilst there too... So all this probably influenced me wanting to do something a little different for a change!

My Fates are a composite of the archetypes from Greek and Norse mythology... they symbolise time; the past, present and future. In the Greek myth the past spins the thread of life, the present measures its length and the unknown future cuts it to an end. I made the cut thread and new thread link, to give a more positive cyclic nature to time. In Norse myth the three Norns do not spin, but weave the web of wyrd - the entwining fates of all humankind - whilst sat beneath the World Tree, which I included in stylised form.

Wasn't sure if I should put this up or not as it's darker and different to what I usually do, just an experiment really - I may work on bringing something of this image into my usual work:)

8in x 24in acrylic and ink on canvas, with a PVA and emulsion texture.

The gritty texture of the wood really gives Fates a feel of macabre antiquity. *dark777fairy uses well composed lines to transition our gaze and complete the scene. ( Suggested by elegaer and Featured by oilsoaked )

this is amazing!

The Moirai (goddesses of fate):
Clotho: she who spun the thread of life
Lachesis: she who measured the thread of life
Atropos: she who cut the thread of life

Amazing piece! It is, in my humble opinion, a combination of folk art and Art Deco! Can't wait to see what else is in your gallery!

I really like this! :3 It's all eerie...

Y'know, for some reason I've always thought of the Fates as a young girl (for the things that were) that spins the thread, a woman in her prime (for the things that are) who measures the thread, and a elderly woman (for the things that shall be) who then cuts it. That's just my interpretation. :3D

I SHALL FAVOURITE

Nice art! I would like to ask for permission if it's okay to have your art be part of my list on my site? I am looking forward to feature some great gods and goddesses on my site. You can check out my site here, at the bottom. Of course I'll put a credit that this is your own art. :)
Hope you'll agree! \(^_^)/

I really love the mood you've created with the textures and the scale of the Muses over the town. It has an aesthetic not unlike medieval depictions of Death ruling over us all in the end. Sometimes experimentation can lead us to satisfying places:)

Exellent composition and texture. Your use of a limited pallette creates a strong mood, and for me, certainly evokes the essence of the Norns.

Ah, the Fates, hey are such an inspirational concept. Totally loved your representation of them here. :D The dark colour and atmosphere give very grim feeling, which are caracteristical from these three.

Excellent.

I like how you played with the layers, the texture and the lighting, but also with the composition of the elements in space. As a hole it's letting room for evocation.

May you do lots of great works with your inspiration before Atropos cuts its thread.
