Your work is good. You are especially good at drawing the human figure and nature type backgrounds. However a way to improve all around art skills is to try takeing on different styles and subject matter from what you usually do once in a while. Maybe try surrealism, abstract, impressionism style work every so often. It will realy help you with skills in art that you do not usually focus on. Also try out lots of different media. The important thing in getting better at art is to always be trying new things.... I hope that this comment helped you and if it didnt its just my opinion....

Excellent advise, thankyou very much! I do seem to automatically put a female figure in everything I do, so trying different subject matter n styles would be a good idea...
Thanks x :)

Drawing from life is always a good way of developing your skills I find, whether it's actual life-drawing, or sketching trees or landscapes or whatever...

Thanx for the advise... when it gets warmer I will go out and start drawing things from nature... would like to take life drawing classes as I think my anatomy could be improved, will have to look into where some take place. Have been browsing the artistic nude section of deviantart to get some ideas as well! Thankyou for commenting :)

Stay true to your heart...if you don't believe in your work neither will anyone else.
You have to feel it!

If you like to put women in everything you do...then do it...The key is time and practice. Ask yourself how many hours a week do I draw and paint? Remember it took the masters 10 to 15 years of art school where they did nothing but draw and paint for 10 hr a day before they thought they were good enough to put things together.

Stand back and honestly ask yourself...is this the best "I" can do at this moment, and if the answer is yes, then your on the right track. Never trade quality for quantity. It's better to put together 1 great piece a month then 4 good ones. Then you build very good habits.

Have a plan...ask yourself "what am I trying to say to the viewer?"
Sketch it out...try different backgrounds and setting to relay what your trying to say to the viewer...play with the colors and when you think you have a great idea together...start to put it on canvas...or metal, or board.

Let the drawing lead you...if you let it she will tell you who she is and what she wants to say and become...don't force it.

Feel free to swing by and note me if you would like to chat more on the subject.

Thankyou for such an in-depth and helpfull response to my journal! I agree with what you have said - I have been wondering about the quality vs quantity thing for a while now and how to strike the right balance between the two...I think I sometimes do rush things just to get them 'done' so I should work on that! With each piece I create I try to express another aspect of myself and my imagination, so although I try different things I feel my work is unified by my own vision and personality...I do think I should work more on taking into account the viewer and my images communication with them...:D
You have raised some interesting points for me to think about - thankyou for commenting!

Your very welcome...

here are my profound comments:) Something about the eyes and mouths in these pictures is not in a realistic style, you probably already know that though lol:) The pictures are not cheerful too. I don't know how commercial you want to go with your art. I'm not an art critic so I can only say what I like, and that is pictures of cats. You could appeal to the goth market with this art and also make cat pictures that non-goths would like, I will buy anything with a cute cat on it, I even have one of those cheesy cat calendars. Well those are my insightful comments, I hope they amuse you in some way:)
